Citrus Leprosis
12 Feb 2023
Ink painting/drawing of citrus leprosis on orange, caused by the either citrus leprosis virus nuclear type (CiLV-N), or citrus leprosis virus cytoplasmic type (CiLV-C).
The painting shows an orange branch, with 10 leaves, three twigs and one underripe green orange. The leaves and fruit have chlorotic pale yellow lesions, while the mature lesions on the leaves and lesions on the fruit contain brown necrotic (dead) regions.

The picture shows a montage of three photographs, taken at different stages of painting the Citrus Leprosis composition.
Top: I used a pale yellow hue to depict the shape and layout of the leaves, twigs, and fruit. Next, I applied a layer of green to represent the leaves, twigs, and fruit, while leaving some areas in pale yellow to show chlorotic regions where necessary.
Middle: I added brown (necrotic) details to provide more depth, and included a darker green midrib to the centre of each plant leaf.
Bottom: Finally, I outlined the key elements such as (leaves, stems and fruit) in black.
