Original text
Ink painting/drawing of linseed rust, caused by Melampsora lini.
The painting shows a linseed stem with two offshoots. The central shoot terminates in two seedpods, whereas the side shoots terminate in seed buds or blue five-petalled linseed flowers. There are yellow, chlorotic areas painted on the leaves, with orange dots representing the rust pustules. Rust pustules are also present on the seed heads.
I took photos at different stages whilst drawing this picture - these show the process that I usually follow:
1) draw an outline, in a light colour, to work out the general shape.
2) add in major details, for example leaves and flowers.
3) add in smaller blocks of colour.
4) fill in all the colours. If there is a mistake, draw a leaf over it (e.g. for the flower buds on the top left).
5) add a black outline.
